- 200g plain flour
- 100g unsalted butter
- 50g caster sugar
- 397g condensed milk (1 tin)
- 150g butter (for caramel)
- 100g soft brown sugar
- 200g milk or dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line a square baking tin.
- Mix flour, butter, and sugar to form a dough.
- Press into the tin and bake for 20 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and condensed milk for caramel.
- Cook gently while stirring until thickened.
- Pour caramel over the base and allow to set.
- Melt chocolate and spread over the caramel layer.
- Chill until firm, then slice into squares.
Notes
- Stir caramel constantly to avoid burning.
- Let each layer cool before adding the next.
- Use quality chocolate for better flavour.
- Chill well before slicing for clean cuts.
- Store in an airtight container.
