Traditional English Breakfast Muffins (Classic British Morning Treat)

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 200ml warm milk
  • 25g butter, melted
  • Semolina or flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
  2. Add warm milk and melted butter, then mix into a soft dough.
  3. Knead gently until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out and cut into rounds.
  6. Dust with semolina and leave to rest again.
  7. Cook on a preheated griddle over medium-low heat for 5–7 minutes on each side.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then split and toast before serving.

  • Cook slowly to ensure the inside is fully baked.
  • Use a fork to split for better texture.
