- 300g strong white bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 7g instant yeast
- 200ml warm milk
- 25g butter, melted
- Semolina or flour, for dusting
Instructions
- Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
- Add warm milk and melted butter, then mix into a soft dough.
- Knead gently until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size.
- Roll out and cut into rounds.
- Dust with semolina and leave to rest again.
- Cook on a preheated griddle over medium-low heat for 5–7 minutes on each side.
- Allow to cool slightly, then split and toast before serving.
Notes
- Cook slowly to ensure the inside is fully baked.
- Use a fork to split for better texture.
- Dusting prevents sticking and adds classic texture.
- Can be frozen for later use.
- Best served toasted and warm.
